Visit to Eden Camp Modern History Museum

Eden Camp is a former World War II Prisoner of War camp located just off the A64 near Malton, which housed first Italian and then German POWs. It is now a modern history museum focused on World War II with huts also other conflicts, from WWI to the Korean, Gulf and Balkan wars.

We spent around 4 hours viewing the 29 viewing huts covering the Rise of Hitler, Women at War, Bevin Boys, Bomber Command and many others. Unfortunately some of the huts were closed either for refurbishment or because they contained high-touch items (COVID risk), however this did not detract from our visit at all.

Unfortunately the hut detailing the Blitz was closed however there were other references around the site.
The famous Dambusters (617 Sqn) were also featured
There are realistic mock -ups of life in Britain during the war in various huts.

The museum is well worth a visit and is excellent value at £12 entry fee per adult. There is so much information that it is impossible to take everything in during one visit, and I look forward to visiting again.
